Henleaze is  a charming residential suburb of Bristol with many shops and local amenities to cater to residents and visitors alike. The area also boasts several charity shops, as well as a library and a cinema, providing plenty of opportunities for entertainment and relaxation.

Just round the corner, 2 minutes walk, from the Laetare venue is the Old Lodge, a beautiful thatched cottage dating back to 1810. It was formerly one of two former lodge houses to Henleaze Park, the residence of Samuel and Walter Derham. Henleaze Park later became St Margaret’s School before being demolished in 1962. The lodge’s most unusual feature is the spy window on the ground floor that would have enabled the lodge keeper to view passing coaches.

Henleaze is home to many hidden gems, but the most popular one has to be Henleaze Lake in Badock’s Wood, just over 15 minutes walk from the Laetare venue. A stunning natural retreat that was intentionally formed over 100 years ago on the site of a former quarry and now nestled in a wooded setting and surrounded by houses. It offers a secluded paradise for a refreshing dip in its pristine waters, abundant with wildflowers and birdlife.
